Listen for the Lie

'Listen for the Lie' by Amy Tintera was somewhat of a disappointment. The trail of angst filled characters and their adolescent regrets about sex and success began to wear thin very quickly.

I approached Tintera's first adult novel with an open mind. I hoped that she could switch perspective from the Young Adult genre with a deft hand. That did not happen and the trail of self doubt/voice of a victim/schizophrenia-enhanced musings created more sensual heat than light.

I found the characters somewhat well created. However, each player seemed to wander aimlessly through the woods and the claustrophobic streets of Plumpton, Texas. Each female character woven by the author is full of regret and each male is literally a 'dick'.

The novel needed more of a focus on who dun nit rather than who was 'doing' who.

My advice? Pass on this one.
